LØLØ Knows Exactly Where the Sore Spot Is
On “the punisher,” the Toronto singer-songwriter turns post-breakup doom-scrolling into one of the sharpest songs on god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!

LØLØ did not have to invent the premise for “the punisher.” After a breakup, the Toronto singer-songwriter caught herself checking her ex’s new life online, then checking again even though she knew exactly how it would make her feel.
She has described following the trail from her ex to his new girlfriend and then deeper into the surrounding social circle, piecing together a life she was no longer part of. The song turns that habit into a painfully familiar contradiction: knowing where the sore spot is and pressing on it anyway.
LØLØ told Dork that she became almost addicted to the ritual, returning to photos and updates even when she knew the result would be another bad day. That self-awareness keeps the song from turning the behaviour into melodrama, because the point is not that she thinks it is healthy. The point is that she cannot quite stop.
The track also helped point LØLØ toward the direction of god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!. Concord describes “the punisher” as one of the first stripped-back songs she had made in a while, and LØLØ called it a pivotal moment in shaping the album.
Released through Fearless Records in 2026, the album leans into exactly that kind of uncomfortable openness. “the punisher” sits right at the centre of it, turning obsessive post-breakup behaviour into something catchy enough to yell along with.
That tension is one of LØLØ’s best tricks. She can write like someone reading the group chat out loud, then build the hook so a room full of people can shout it back at her.
For another current Canadian pop writer having a strong 2026, head to VIBI’s “angeldies”.
