Lennon Stella

Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

Oshawa-born Lennon Stella first reached a wide audience alongside her younger sister Maisy. Their stripped-down cover performances circulated widely online before both sisters joined the television drama Nashville, where Lennon spent six seasons playing Maddie Conrad. That unusual apprenticeship put her in front of a mass audience while she was still developing as a musician, singer and songwriter rather than arriving as a conventional label-built pop act.

Stella began separating her own musical identity from the show with the 2018 EP Love, Me. The project shifted toward atmospheric contemporary pop, and collaborations including Jonas Blue and Liam Payne's "Polaroid" and The Chainsmokers and Illenium's "Takeaway" expanded her international audience. Her 2020 debut album Three. Two. One. followed with songs including "Kissing Other People," "Older Than I Am" and "Fear of Being Alone," presenting a more self-contained version of the intimate, restrained pop sound she had been building.

Stella's significance lies partly in the transition itself. She moved from a Canadian family act and television role into a credible adult recording career without simply reproducing the country-pop world that introduced her. Three. Two. One. reached the Canadian albums Top 10, and its mixture of diaristic writing, electronic detail and soft-focus R&B textures placed Stella within the generation of Canadian pop artists whose careers developed simultaneously through television, streaming and global collaborations.
