Prince Edward Island-born, Halifax-based singer-songwriter Jenn Grant has built one of Atlantic Canada's most enduring modern folk-pop careers, using an airy, expressive voice to connect singer-songwriter intimacy with orchestral pop, Americana and the collaborative culture of the East Coast scene. Albums including Echoes and Honeymoon Punch brought her wider national attention, while The Beautiful Wild earned JUNO nominations and helped establish Grant beyond the regional awards circuit. Her writing has remained closely tied to place, family memory and emotional detail even as the arrangements around it have shifted from luminous folk-pop to country and atmospheric studio work.

Compostela expanded that reputation and was followed by Paradise and Love, Inevitable, records that continued Grant's relationship with producer and longtime collaborator Daniel Ledwell. Across the period she accumulated three JUNO nominations, multiple East Coast Music Awards and a Polaris Music Prize long-listing. Her 2023 project Champagne Problems widened the frame through collaboration, bringing together 13 Canadian musicians including Bahamas, Dan Mangan, Basia Bulat and Kevin Drew. The project helped earn Grant the 2024 ECMA for Songwriter of the Year, while "Judy," her collaboration with Kim Harris, received Song of the Year recognition.

Grant's 2026 album Queen of the Strait draws directly on childhood crossings between Prince Edward Island and the mainland and turns family history into a broader meditation on loss, survival and belonging. Co-produced with Joshua Van Tassel and Ledwell, the record moves deeper into country and Americana without severing the dreamlike quality associated with her earlier work. That continuity helps explain Grant's place in Canadian music: she has sustained a national career from Atlantic Canada while repeatedly drawing other Canadian artists into the work, making collaboration, geography and personal storytelling central parts of the same catalogue.
