CG Tears

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

CG Tears is a Calgary trio built from a long-running collaboration between songwriter Clinton St. John, producer and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Greenwood and Chad VanGaalen. The project began as an idea between St. John and Greenwood more than a decade before it settled into a finished band. VanGaalen initially came in to mix the material, then added instrumentation, backing vocals and arrangement ideas until the duo became a trio. Their self-titled 2026 debut pairs echo-heavy synths and intricate electronic rhythms with impressionistic writing, odd turns and pop instincts that keep the songs from drifting too far into abstraction.
