Northern Dial Artist Profile

A$h Da Hunter

Arizona, United States

Arizona rapper A$h Da Hunter is a member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation and a descendant of Hopi people, grounding her music in reservation life, ceremony and contemporary Native identity. Her writing is candid and direct, using hip-hop as a space to talk about culture, survival, confidence and the realities of being a Native woman in a genre where Indigenous voices remain underrepresented. Rather than treating identity as a branding device, she places it inside the everyday language and perspective of her songs.

Her 2023 project Playing With Prey introduced a wider audience to that approach, while the 2024 album HUNTING SZN sharpened it through tracks such as "Stoodis," "Native Girl" and "Blessing or a Curse." The record balances aggressive rap performance with explicitly Indigenous references and collaborations, building a catalogue that can move between humour, confrontation and community-minded storytelling without flattening any of those elements into a single message.

A$h Da Hunter's profile has continued to grow through collaborations and the wider Indigenous hip-hop circuit. In 2026 she was featured alongside Travis Thompson and Wiidaaseh in Alexandra Lazarowich's documentary Turtle Island Rap, a film centred on emerging Indigenous hip-hop artists and the personal as well as artistic worlds behind their music. Her importance within Northern Dial's rotation is not simply that she is an Indigenous rapper, but that her work shows contemporary Native hip-hop as active, stylistically current and connected to lived community rather than framed as a historical category.
